| Description: | Job Summary
The General Manager is responsible for planning, directing, or coordinating the operations of a
company business location/profit center. Responsibilities include formulating policies, managing daily operations, and planning the use of materials and human resources.

| Duties: | Responsibilities
1. Direct and coordinate activities of business or departments concerned with the production,
pricing, sales, or distribution of products in a profit center.
2. Oversee staff management and preparation of work schedules and assignment of specific
duties.
3. Review financial statements, sales and activity reports, and other performance data to
measure productivity and goal achievement and to determine areas needing cost reduction
and program improvement.
4. Establish and implement departmental policies, goals, objectives, and procedures, conferring
with board members, organization officials, and staff members as necessary.
5. Determine staffing requirements, and interview, hire and train new employees, or oversee
those personnel processes.
6. Monitor businesses and agencies to ensure that they efficiently and effectively provide
needed services while staying within budgetary limits.
7. Direct and coordinate organization's financial and budget activities to fund operations,
maximize investments, and increase efficiency.
8. Determine goods and services to be sold, and set prices and credit terms, based on forecasts
of customer demand.
9. Manage the movement of goods into and out of production facilities.

| Qualifications: | 1. Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Finance or related field.
2. Three (3) years work-related knowledge, skill or experience in the food distribution industry.
3. Two (2) years work experience in strategic business leadership in the food distribution industry.
4. Excellent communication skills; oral, written and presentation.
5. Excellent organization skills – prioritize work assignments and manage work time.
6. Proficient use of office management software programs (i.e. Microsoft Office)
Preferred Qualifications
1. Masters Degree in Business Administration, Finance or related field.
2. Five (5) years work-related knowledge, skills or experience in the food distribution industry.
3. Three (3) years work experience leading department operations in the food distribution industry.
Required Skills
1. Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets,
banking and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
2. Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource
allocation, human resource practices, leadership technique, production methods, and
coordination of people and resources.
3. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service, including customer
needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer
satisfaction.
4. Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most
appropriate one.
5. Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words
and sentences.
6. Ability to formulate alternative ideas about a given topic or situation, or to develop creative
ways to solve a problem. |
